Connecticut KIDS COUNT is part of a national and state-level effort to track child well-being in the U.S, sponsored by the Annie E. Casey Foundation.  KIDS COUNT seeks to enrich local, state, and national discussions about ways to secure a better future for all children.  Since the early 1990s, the Connecticut Association for Human Services (CAHS) has been the Connecticut KIDS COUNT grantee.

Throughout the year, CAHS produces a number of publications, including the Connecticut KIDS COUNT Data Book, which includes child well-being indicators for all 169 municipalities of the state.  A number of policy briefs are also published that explain the real-life implications of policymakers’ decisions on children and families. Our publications focus on topics about family economic security and the link between family well-being and the state’s economy.

Connecticut KIDS COUNT materials are distributed to state policymakers, municipal leaders, service providers, the media, and the public.  We continue to expand our vision of the Connecticut KIDS COUNT Project in order to ensure that all Connecticut children are healthy, families are financially successful, and the state’s economy and our business climate thriving.

In essence, KIDS COUNT is about creating an informed, strong voice for children and their families as Connecticut moves through the 21st Century. We provide reliable, comprehensive, timely information on how well Connecticut's children are doing at the state and local levels.
